Now m-Aadhaar a valid ID to enter airports

In a recent circular issued by aviation security agency, the entry to the airports will now be made convenient. Passengers may now use mobile-Aadhaar as an identity proof to enter the airports. The circular also said that the identification of documents will not be required for minors accompanied by parents. In its latest communication, Bureau of Civil Aviation and Security (BCAS) has validated 10 identity proofs for validation purposes. The passengers travelling from airports need to produce any of the 10 identity proofs that include passport, voter’s ID card, Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar, PAN card and driving licence. The original ID is to be produced for valid entry.

Other acceptable IDs

The passbook issued by a nationalised bank, pension card, disability photo ID and service photo ID card of central/state government, PSU, local bodies and private limited company will also be acceptable. Students have the option to furnish a photo identity card issued by a government institute.

The order exempts a minor accompanied by a parent or a guardian from producing any identity proof. If a passenger is not able to furnish any of the ten documents, there is an option to provide an identity certificate issued by a group A gazetted officer of central or state cadre. International passengers would continue to enter and travel on producing a passport and valid air tickets.
