UP Ropes In Swiss Company to Oversee Kumbha Mela Proceedings
As the Kumbha Mela in Allahabad nears, the country has its eyes on the religious event. The administration too is attempting to make this event a grand success.
To ensure a smooth and quality running of the event, a third party would be appointed to supervise the operations.
The Urban Development minister of the state, Suresh Khanna, announced that a Swiss company, SGS India Ltd, is roped in to oversee the functioning of the Mela at a meeting in Allahabad. The event was also attended by Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. The Swiss Company is asked to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project.
The city would be connected to 14 Big Airports for the Maagh Mela and Kumbha Mela. The Railways too will be asked to fast-track the rail route in and around the city.
The public parks in the city will also undergo a facelift in the run up to the Kumbha Mela. This includes Shahid Chandrashekhar Park and Bharadwaj Park in the religious city of Prayag.
A total of 1,305 crore has been approved for the various preparations of the religious event. A plan to approve additional 700 crore is underway.
