IAS Officers Directed To Submit Asset Details by Jan 31,2018

In what may be translated to an anti-corruption move, all IAS officers have been directed to submit the details of their assets by next month.

The failure to do so would lead to denial of vigilance clearance required for promotions and foreign postings and deputations.

Although, the practice of filing immovable property returns (IPRs) is an ongoing one and all central, state and Union-Territories’ officials file their IPRs annually. But the pressing deadline of Jan 31, 2018 has been fixed for this fiscal.

Immovable Property Returns

In a letter written to all Central government departments, states and Union Territories, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has asked to ensure that all IAS officers working with them shall submit their immovable property returns (IPRs) by Jh

anuary 31, 2018.

Denial of Vigilance Clearance

Reinforcing the DoPTs instructions dated April 4, 2011, the recent letter said that officers who did not submit their IPRs as on Jan 31, 2018 would be denied vigilance clearance. Hence, they will not be considered for promotions and job postings.
