IIT Bombay and IISc Bengaluru among Top 10 BRICS institutes

The BRICS nations’ are in a continual race and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ratings has spur the race once again.Now, QS as announced the best universities among BRICS nations and one of the Indian institutes has emerged as the frontrunner.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) has secured the ninth position while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is at number 10.

Other Indian institutes

Over 300 universities from India, China, Russia, South Africa and Brazil were observed and graded this year. The IIT Roorkee is ranked 51 among the best universities in BRICS nations. 

IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Guwahati are some of the top universities from India to feature on the list.

BITS Pilani, Thapar University, Symbiosis International University and OP Jindal Global University have made an appearance among the private institutes from India.

Last year, IISc was ranked at the sixth position among all universities in BRICS nations. It was closely followed by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur at ranks 13, 15, 19 and 22 respectively.

Chinese universities — Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University and the University of Science and Technology of China had topped the ranks in 2017. The Chinese universities secured the top spots last year too. They occupied seven of the top 10 ranks.

India had the second highest representation in the 2017 list after China.
