Airlines To Revise Ticket Cancellation Charges
In a welcome move, the domestic airline industry has now revised the ticket cancellation fee structure. The airlines will now no longer levy a fixed amount of Rs 3000 on air ticket cancellations.
The change is made after the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) wrote to the airlines on this matter.
About the new structure
The domestic airlines levy a flat fee of Rs 3,000 upon the cancellation of air tickets. Under the new structure says the airlines will now charge the base fare along with the fuel surcharge or Rs 3,000, whichever is lower. The charges will be calculated on per passenger basis.
The move comes as a respite to frequent flyers especially those who book their tickets in advance to get cheaper prices.
Passengers on shorter routes to get benefits
Those who will travel on shorter routes will be hugely benefited if they cancel their travel as the base fares are often lower than Rs 3,000.
