To achieve the goal of gender equality, the Ministry of Women and Child development is promoting the use of information and communication technology.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a digital initiative to ensure the dignity of women in the modern society, The initiative has been planned to ensure the effective implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013. The ministry has launched 'SHE-Box' to enable women to lodge complaints of sexual harassment at work places.
It is an online complaint manner management system. It is open to women working in both -- private and public organisations.
It is a platform where an aggrieved woman can directly complain and suitable action would be taken against the grievances.
Moreover, WCD Ministry, Smt Maneka Gandhi has assured to monitor the complaints.
How will it work?
It can help women facing sexual harassment at workplace to get comparatively speedier remedy.
Once the complaint is submitted to the portal, it would be directly sent to the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC)/ Local Complaint Committee (LCC) of the concerned employer.
The WCD, as well as the complainant, can monitor the progress of inquiry conducted through the portal. Those who have already filed a written complaint with the concerned Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) or Local Complaint Committee (LCC) constituted under the Act may file their complaint through this portal again.
The users can interact with the Ministry of Women and Child Development via this portal and would get assured response in fixed time.
