The Ministry of Skill Development has Set up Over 1,100 ITIs

By signing MoUs with 14 ministries, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship covered a lot of aspects.

Firstly, the ministry decided to share the training infrastructure. Secondly, it was all about sharing the CSR funds. And thirdly, it took a remarkable step to train army persons as skill development trainers.

Over 1100 new industrial training instituteshave been launched over a year, and they have the capacity to train approximately 173000 people. An investment of approximately Rs 10,000 crore will further encourage and mobilize various sectors to take up this training.

The government has taken a big leap towards improving the condition of Public Sector Units (PSUs). Nearly Rs. 1000 crore will be received by PSUs now for generating 500,000 job opportunities with the help of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana.

The government has already started its work by asking PSUs to take up their appointments from 36,000 to 5 lakhs. As agreed by the Ministry of Sill Development, apprentices will be paid around Rs. 18,000.
According to market reports, this initiative will solve two crucial issues. Unemployment will go down and PSUs can overcome their staff-shortage problems.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has a launched a programme under Pradhan MantriKaushal VikasYojana, which offered training to 900 employees and office bearers of the RashtrapatiBhavan.

Initially, around 1500 employees were selected for the training. 900 of them were awarded certifications in May, 2016.

The training prepared individuals for 18 job roles that include gardeners, room attendants, housekeeping, drivers, plumbers, electrical works, carpenters, security guards, painters, data entry professionals, laundry men and cooks, office assistants, and other posts.

Minister of State for Skill Development, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, has promised to launch a mobile application and give out offer letters for mobilizing potential candidates to receive training under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana (PMKVY).

Other than that, aspiring candidates will also get the opportunity to participate in other skill development activities in Chowkaghat. Rudy also plans to create awareness and launch initiatives on prior-learning. A reputed NGO in Uttar Pradesh, SWACA, is taking active part in the programme.

60 students amongst those who wish to train under PMKVY will also get introduction kits.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has revealed new data for the total enrolment under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojanaprogramme.

According to reports, the cumulative enrolment under this training programme was around 19.7 lakhs (approximately 20 lakhs). Trainees were classified into two groups namely, the short-term trainees and ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ trainees, with the first training programme having nearly 17.94 lakh people and the second one having 1.79 lakhs of people.

The latest data recorded till April 25, 2016 presents a clear picture of the distribution of skill training. Six states namely Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh accounted for over 50% of total trainees. UP is at the top with 2, 52,304, closely followed by MP with 1, 56,096 trainees.

Tamil Nadu accounts for 1, 50,244 trainees, whereas Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Rajasthan recorded 1, 22,866, 1, 13,397, and 1, 11,235 respectively.

In support of Narendra Modi’s decision, Finance Minister, Mr. ArunJaitley has grantedRs. 1,804 crores for boosting job creation post-skill-development training.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will take the initiative and create employable workforce and entrepreneurs. Approximately 1-crore youth will receive targeted training under this scheme over a period of three years.

Around 1500 Training and skill centres will be established under the initiative of National Skill Development Council. Other than these programs, the governmenthas also promised to contribute nearly 8.33% to the pension scheme.

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India took a significant initiative by launching the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana in Bengal.

The prime objective of this initiative is to impart appropriate training to unskilled workers. Trainees will also receive government certificates and financial rewards on completion of this training.

Aspiring trainees will need to find out information about the preferable training centres, which they can get on the websites or by calling the toll-free numbers. Trainees will also have the opportunity to choose their preferred skill areas thus getting trained under the same.

Around 10-Lakh Youth to Receive Engineering Training by the End of 2019, under PMKVY

As per the government’s proposal, the infrastructural facilities of nearly 10000 colleges can be utilized to impart engineering training to approximately 10-lakh candidates.

According to the statements of Prakash Javadekar, the Minister for Human-Resource-Development, the infrastructure of these colleges will take the skill-development training forward. The government has also conceptualized and formulized a scheme, which has found immense response amongst the engineering institutes of the country.

Out of 10000 institutes, 1500 have offered positive response and the ministry also promised to pay Rs.28 to Rs.40 per student for every hour.
