Forget flying,Now you may drive Delhi to Patna in 11 hrs

The BJP has had ambitious agendas even before it assumed the office in 2014. And now it has set for itself another not-so-easy target.

It has planned a road map from Delhi to Patna. And that the stretch of 1,100 kilometres would be covered in just 11 hours.

New economic corridor

The plan would develop a network of ring roads and expressways and create a new economic corridor on the footsteps of the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor.

Connecting cities, stamping power

The project is a joint vision of BJP governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The project aims to slash the travel time between Delhi and Patna by one-third. Also, it aims to connect the three major political centres of Delhi, Lucknow and Patna by 2019 -- when the next general election is due.

From 18 to 11 hours

The road journey between Delhi and Patna currently takes 18 hours. It took longer before the Agra-Lucknow expressway was thrown open in Uttar Pradesh earlier this year.

2019 countdown measure?

The BJP governments seem keen to address the issue of poor road connectivity in the two politically crucial states of UP and Bihar in the run-up to the next general election.
