Yamuna E-way cut speed limits, to penalise speedsters
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has cut speed limits for motorists on the expressway. The CEO of YEIDA, Arunvir Singh held a meeting of traffic police and RTO officials on Nov 10 to further rein in the speed-violators.
Two new police check posts would be established at both zero points (Greater Noida and Agra). Besides, 12 static cameras would be installed along the expressway.
The CEO has also ordered the traffic police to have 10 patrolling mobile vans equipped with cameras and 10 speed guns. The new measures will be in place within a week.
YEIDA will integrate the Intelligent Traffic Management System that is already in place along the Noida-Greater Noida expressway. This is to enable the traffic police to identify speeding vehicles and the speed-violators.
The repeated offenders will be penalised and their driving licenses will be suspended, as per new measures.
YEIDA officials met with SP (traffic) of Gautam Budh Nagar, Mathura and Agra along with the RTO.
